Anna Paczkowska: Hands down, the best tip for anyone wanting to open an e-commerce store with Shopify is FIND THE RIGHT EXPERT because it’s not one and done. You cannot have the “build it and they will come” mentality.
You need to make sure that you find an expert, not just a Web Designer, but actually someone who has an e-commerce background and I’ll tell you why…
A real Shopify expert will build it for you but also knows what it takes to bring and convert traffic. Someone who understands that you need to have not only consistent brand style and product photography that showcases your products well, product descriptions that sell, and also other tools that will help your online store convert, such as abandoned cart strategy, reviews strategy, email and social media marketing that supports your funnel, live chat. Even some seemingly basic website content like your contact information that builds trust and a brand story that helps customers relate need to be configured the right way.
Lead magnets, app integration, affiliate marketing, loyalty programs, gift cards, SEO, pre-launch strategy… if the team that is building your Shopify store is not experienced in those areas, I suggest you keep looking!
